Langtang Trek is one of Nepal’s most popular trekking trails. Langtang is an area in Northern of Kathmandu Valley in the Himalayas of Nepal. Langtang is a narrow valley south of the border with Tibet. The valley lies between the northern main range of the Himalayas and the southern snowy peaks. Langtang has more than 70 different glaciers of various sizes as well as the Langtang and Ganesh Himal mountain ranges including high-altitude lakes such as Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda, and Dudhkunda.

Langtang Lirung 7246 m, Gang Chhenpo 6388 m, Naya Kangri 5846 m and Dorje Lakpa 6966 m are the most important mountains in Langtang region. The Langtang is known for its beautiful cedar forests and flowers, and its panoramas of upward mountains of the Himalayas including the 8000 meters peak Shishapangma. Langtang is also described as the world’s most beautiful valley which includes a view of the magnificent Gosainkund Lake and trip to the Tamang Heritage Trail.
The Langtang National Park is a protected area where Tamang is mainly inhabited and the weather areas range from subtropical to alpine. The same year that the royal Geographic Society and the Alpine Club were seeking permission to explore the south coast of the Everest, it was denied until Bill Tilman ‘s expedition in 1949, where he was permitted to reach Langtang, where he looked for a route in Tibet. He discovered a pass that leads south through the Jugal Himal and back to Kathmandu (still called the Tilman Pass), after Gangchempo.
Today the Valley is still a rarely visited area, despite the road that lead up to Dhunche through the Trisuli Valley. The national park of Langtang has the same climate as the National Park of Sagamartha.Subtropical areas in the south have more diverse species, including musk deers, himalayan black bears and Himalyan Tahr , langur monkeys, gorals and the rare snow leopards as well as red pandas. Oak, blue oak, birch, maple and the hillsides with rhododendron flowers are thick in the spring. The valley also has many glacial lakes such as the Hindus-sacred Gosainkunda lake, and several high peaks, both for climbing, including the Yala Peak and the Baden Powell peak.
